Pause

I have put this blog on pause for a bit. My scanner is on the fritz, and all of my photos are on film. Don't worry, this blog is not ending, it is simply on vacation until further notice.

#22: Goats on the porch

I've been thinking a bit about the format of this blog. I have an idea to have a weekly theme for the photos. They would be related by subject, technique, process, event, and things of that nature. Each week will be like a mini portfolio. It will make the blog more coherent and not just a bunch of random images. If it does not work out for some reason, I can always switch back to the current format. What do you think?

And now, I proclaim this to be GoatWeek!

#11: Faraway So Close

The film didn't line up correctly in the scanner, and this was the result. I like it. The cropping makes it a stronger image than the two originals. What do you think?

(By the way, the title is a song by Nick Cave, who is amazing. Go have a listen!)

#5: Jigllybot Part 2

Wowee! I love this pitcure. There are four things in it: pearls, the piggie in the corner, the tablecloth, and the jigglybot.

But where is the jigglybot? It is the glitter in the pearls! I used a slow shutter speed, and wound the jigglybot up so it jiggled. It moved fast enough that its image was not recorded in one place on the film. Instead, the film picked up the reflected light as the jigglybot moved around.

Beautiful, yes?

#2: Shells and Martians

This photo is about texture and contrast. The differences between sharp and round, light and dark, matt and shiny. There is an odd spot in the upper right corner; I like to think it is a blip of martian communication.

Photographs as they are.

My photographs are not perfect; sometimes they need a little help to make them as nice as they can be. I will present them here, as they are, just scanned and rotated to the proper view. I have not cropped them, adjusted any levels, or retouched any spots. The photographs simply exist as they are.

Any advice or opinions on improving or naming the images are quite welcome!
